Q: Module – Can I study more than one module?

A: All the modules run in parallel through the weekend and you are asked to nominate the module for which you are most likely to attend sessions plus any others you may wish to attend.

Attendance at sessions for other than the primary module will depend on space in the teaching room and will be at the discretion of the tutor.  Tutors will be asked to provide any handouts they produce for all students who declare an interest in their module.

You may request a change to your nomination at any time prior to the weekend, provided that the module group you wish to join is not at full capacity.

Q: Shuttle service – What time will the coaches leave the station and do I have to book in advance?

A: The shuttles will be timed to meet the train arrivals at STONE station, and on Sunday to meet departures from STONE station, and pre-booking is required. We cannot guarantee a place on a particular shuttle bus after 13th April.

The arrival times on Friday are 36 minutes past the hour for southbound trains (via Stoke) and 50 mins past for northbound trains (via Stafford). The time of the first shuttle will be confirmed when we have an idea of expected arrival times (probably no earlier than the 15:36 arrival) and the last shuttle is likely to be for the 18:36 arrival.

As far as the Friday is concerned, for many routes you will need to change at either Stoke-on-Trent or Stafford, but the London Midland Euston/Crewe service stops at Stone on both north and southbound journeys. This train is slower than the Virgin train from Euston, but is considerably cheaper.

Q: Taxis – I’m likely to arrive and leave at times when the shuttle is not running. Is there a taxi rank at Stone station and what can I expect to pay for a taxi from there to Yarnfield Park?

A: No. If you need a taxi, pre-booking is recommended and the cost in 2014 was about £7. See the lifts page if you would like to offer, or accept an offer, to share a taxi.

Yarnfield Park are willing to arrange and book shared taxis for those students who need to leave earlier than the first shuttle on Sunday. Please request this service at the reception desk no later than noon on Sunday.

Q: Payment – Can I pay by credit/debit card, or by PayPal?

A: No. We are a small voluntary society and do not have any of those systems set up. You can pay by cheque or equivalent (postal order for example) or by online transfer to our bank account. See the BACS page for the bank account details.

Q: Bedroom – Are bedrooms single occupancy?

A: Bedrooms at Yarnfield Park all have double or twin beds, but we use them for single occupation, unless partners or friends specifically ask to share a room.

Q: Bedroom – Do I have to bring my own bedding, towels and toiletries?

A: No. Yarnfield Park provide bedding, towels, liquid soap, hair/shower gel plus tea/coffee facilities and a hairdryer in all the bedrooms.

Q: Food – Can the venue cater for vegetarians, or special diets?

A: Yes. Yarnfield Park routinely offer vegetarian and Halal meals on their menus, so there is no need to make specific requests for these options.

If you need to follow a special diet – vegan, diabetic, gluten-free, etc. – please inform us of the details in advance and Yarnfield Park will cater for you personally. You will need to make yourself known to the catering staff at each meal time as all your courses will be individually served, rather than placed in the standard buffet area.

The meal service is buffet style for soup, salads, desserts/cheese and biscuits and drinks, with the main course served by staff at the counter.

Q: Internet – Is Internet access available?

A: Yes. Yarnfield Park provide free Wi-Fi throughout the conference buildings and in all bedrooms.

Q: ATM – Is there an ATM at the venue?

A: Yes, and it is free to use.

Yarnfield Park also accept credit cards at the bar and in the Costa Coffee lounge.
